Description
Jagjeet Sharma’s second collection of poems, “Fragments,” is about everyday lives affected by events or incidents around us, our childhood memories, our parents, and our roots.
For Jagjeet Sharma, poetry is a collection of thoughts expressed in poetic form. She says of her creative process, “I observe, I feel, and I write about it. I call it ‘journalistic poetry.’”
Jagjeet Sharma hopes that “Fragments” will once again allow her to connect with her readers. She says that she is looking for connection, relatability, and that warm response from readers who tell her that this is their kind of poetry.
Jagjeet Sharma is a freelance journalist, broadcaster, and author. She launched her first collection of poems, Nature’s Subtle Seductions, last year at Ottawa City Hall; proceeds from the book launch were donated to the Ottawa Heart Institute. Jagjeet hosts a weekly radio show on CKCU 93.1 FM with her husband and co-host, Surinder Sharma.
Jagjeet contributed to a University of Ottawa research project entitled Ottawa Multicultural Media Initiative (OMMI). She is a founding member of the Ottawa Ethnic Media Forum, and also a member of the Media Club of Ottawa.
She was invited to local South Asian festivals for book signings and poetry readings.
Jagjeet has been featured in the North Grenville Times, and interviewed on local South Asian radio.
“Jagjeet’s poems use simple language, but are extremely profound and relatable.”
