Description
The mission of the Ottawa Police Blues Fc is to build positive relationships with local youth through mentorship to help guide them reach their full potential utilizing education, sports and social interactions.
The Ottawa Police Blues Fc was formed with a few major goals in mind. Our hope was to provide participants a chance to stay healthy while connecting with other frontline members. The teams quickly grew to include individuals from all different front line services including Paramedics, Corrections, special constables and even police foundation students. “I wanted more than just staying healthy and hanging with my friends, I wanted to connect with the community” says Acting Sergeant Archer. Every single member on the team envisioned the same goals and we quickly began with many community endeavors.
In 2012 we launched the Ottawa Blues Charity Classic soccer tournament which has now been running for 11 years. All our proceeds go to support families and children with special needs in Ottawa.
2017 marked the first Ottawa Community Charity shield. Each year Ottawa Police and Ottawa Paramedics and their friends get together to raise funds for youth initiatives through donations, outreach and other local events.
The 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns did not keep us from engaging with our community, instead we adapted, and together with Baico Publishing the Grow a Writer contest was born. The contest was launched to give youth a chance to be creative, be heard and tell their stories.
The Ottawa Police Blues FC engages directly with our local youth and community members year round by participating in local schools, Boys & Girls Clubs and other community organizations activities.
