Description
Rita and Raymond’s Arctic Adventure is my second book dealing with the north, where
I spent 33 years as a manager on scientific research projects. Where Cold Winds Blow (Penumbra Press, 2004) chronicled my experience and included my observations of demographic and environmental changes.
Climate change and global warming is one of the world’s biggest challenges today. The Arctic is like the canary in the coal mine foreshadowing the types of dramatic changes we can expect for the rest of the world. Rita and Raymond’s Arctic Adventure should appeal to teen and young readers, as young people need to know what is happening to the Arctic. The use of actual place names throughout the story lends authenticity, teaching both geography and history in the framework of an exciting adventure, full of humor and surprise.
